Modern Slavery Statement
Croydon Removals Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by Croydon Removals to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to respect human rights and to conduct business in an ethical and transparent manner. This statement applies to all employees, workers, contractors, and suppliers engaged by Croydon Removals.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Croydon Removals has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery, forced labour, child labour, servitude, and human trafficking. We will not knowingly conduct business with any organisation or individual involved in such practices. Our policy is embedded in our internal procedures and forms part of the expectations we communicate to employees, agency staff, and all suppliers who support our removals, storage, logistics, and associated services.
We expect everyone working for or on behalf of Croydon Removals to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct. Any breach or suspected breach of this policy will be treated seriously and may result in disciplinary action, termination of contracts, and referral to the relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Croydon Removals provides domestic and commercial removals, packing, and storage services. Our supply chains include transport and vehicle providers, equipment and packaging suppliers, facility and maintenance contractors, recruitment agencies, and other professional service providers.
We recognise that certain areas of our supply chain, such as temporary labour providers, cleaning and maintenance services, and goods sourced from higher-risk regions, may present an increased risk of modern slavery. We therefore apply enhanced scrutiny and due diligence to these relationships.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
As part of our approach to preventing modern slavery, we undertake proportionate due diligence on new and existing suppliers. This includes assessing their policies, practices, and track record in relation to labour standards and human rights.
We seek written confirmation from suppliers that they comply with applicable modern slavery and human rights legislation and that they do not use forced, involuntary, or trafficked labour. Where appropriate, contractual terms are used to require suppliers to meet our standards and to cascade equivalent expectations down their own supply chains.
Croydon Removals reserves the right to conduct audits or request evidence from suppliers to demonstrate compliance. These audits may include site visits, document reviews, and worker interviews where feasible. If a supplier is unable or unwilling to address identified concerns, we may suspend or terminate the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage a culture of openness where concerns about modern slavery, exploitation, or unethical behaviour can be raised without fear of retaliation. Any employee, worker, contractor, or supplier who suspects that modern slavery may be taking place within our business or supply chains is expected to report their concerns as soon as possible.
Concerns can be raised through line managers, senior management, or internal reporting routes made available to staff. We will investigate all reports promptly, sensitively, and, where possible, confidentially. Those raising genuine concerns will be supported and protected in line with our whistleblowing principles, even if the concern is not ultimately substantiated.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to building awareness of modern slavery risks within Croydon Removals. Key employees involved in procurement, supplier management, and recruitment are provided with guidance on identifying warning signs of exploitation and on the steps to take if concerns arise. We aim to embed consideration of modern slavery risks into our day-to-day decision-making and supplier selection processes.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
Croydon Removals is committed to continual improvement in our efforts to combat modern slavery. We monitor the effectiveness of our measures through reviewing supplier performance, audit findings, reported concerns, and feedback from staff and stakeholders.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by senior management to ensure it remains current, effective, and reflective of our evolving business and risk profile. Where necessary, we will update our policies, training, and supplier requirements to strengthen our approach and respond to emerging risks.
This statement has been approved by the management of Croydon Removals and represents our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery in all its forms within our operations and supply chains.
